Unfortunately, Garageband doesn't support MIDI export. However, you could consider buying Apple's Logic Pro X, which is the 'pro version' of GarageBand.It is quite pricey and might be overkill if you are just dealing with simple MIDI projects but it offers a great deal of features. There’s no option from the GarageBand menus to export the individual files from your multi-track recording. You can only save the entire GarageBand file or a stereo version of the song. But there is a way to do it manually.

When I try to export from Dropbox there is no GarageBand listed as a destination. How is it accomplished? Thanks.

This type of file transfer is called a 'share' on IOS.
DropBox manages cloud-based Folders. So, it's an other optional file-based service
like iCloud and the Files app.
What file types are in the folder? It's the file type that determines what targeted apps are offered.
I assume you're trying to move audio from Cubasis to/from GarageBand. I think you need to export a wave file from Cubasis of a track or a mix-down of the whole project and place it in the dropbox.
@McD, I am trying to get my sax friend to import a wav file I sent to Dropbox. He got the file somehow into GarageBand but it is not highlighted therefore inaccessible.
I have wav files in Dropbox. Cannot figure out how to import into Cubasis. Thx for yr help.

You need to use iPadOS Files app directly. Just copy the file from Dropbox Folder to « your device » (local, not iCloud) GarageBand / GarageBand File Transfer folder. The file will be available directly in GarageBand app in user audio files (where you can also drag audio loops to the arrangement). You can do exactly the same thing with Cubasis (paste file in Audio/My audio files folder).
@Janosax . My friend has an iMac. I sent him the wav via Dropbox. The file on DP only offers “share” and “delete”. He seems to have gotten it into GarageBand, but it is grayed out.

Did you get the audio file from DB to Cubasis?
If not, here are some tips.
Make DB visible in Files app, if it isn’t already. In the Browse panel (left side panel), there is a section called Locations. If you don’t see DB in here, hit the ... button up by the word Browse, and select Edit. You can then make different locations visible in Files, or not.
Once you can see DB in Files, find your audio file and long press it. Select Share, and then select Copy to Cubasis. If you don’t see that option, scroll to the far right edge of the Horizontal app/action list. Select the ... button labeled More.
This will open a much larger list of apps to Share to. Look for Cubasis in that list to Share the audio file to it.
In Cubasis, you can find the audio file in your Audio section.
For getting audio into GarageBand, I open Files in slide over mode on top of the GarageBand timeline. I can drag and drop audio files from Files into GB. It makes a new Track if you drag it near the + symbol that adds new tracks.
I don’t know the equivalent workflow for doing this on a iMac, though. Seems like it would be similar.
Not sure about the grey file thing. My guess is that the File may still be online, and it needs to be a local file. Have Saxman try downloading the audio from DB to the iMac, then try dropping it onto the timeline in GB from whatever file browser is available on the iMac.

I want to get a wav file into GB from DB. I found the edit action which opens “open in...” how do I add GB to “open in”?
Also, might AudioShare work better?

How to Export Files from GarageBand™

The Apple GarageBand application program is a wonderful, and complete, music production environment. For many users it is the only tool needed to record, edit, and publish music. And now that GarageBand is available as an iOS app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch you have the option to start a project while “on the go”, then through the magic of iCloud, continue working on it on your Mac once you are back in the studio.

There are times, however, when you want to move a project that begins life in GarageBand into another music software application. Unfortunately GarageBand does not make this easy, unless you intend to continue the work in either Logic Express, Logic Pro 9, or Logic Pro X.

Here's an example of why this might be useful. GarageBand is a very efficient way to get musical ideas down fast, before your inspiration wanes. But when it comes time to do a final mix, or add that final production polish, some users prefer using a different tool, such as Cubase, Pro Tools, Digital Performer, or perhaps Ableton Live. Getting your project out of GarageBand and into another 'digital audio workstation' (DAW) is time consuming and error prone.

Another example: collaboration. You and your band mates are working on a new project. You prefer GarageBand but another member uses Pro Tools, on a PC! How can you share your work?

And here’s a final situation that you may want to adopt as the last step in any project: saving your tracks as a “future proof” project archive. Audio files are a kind of common denominator for all DAWs and audio software. If you save your project tracks as individual audio files, you enhance the chance that you will be able to access that project in the future, even if a future version of GarageBand no longer reads the original project file (or you no longer have access to GarageBand).

The full-featured (and much more expensive) DAWs have elaborate 'export' facilities that make it much easier to move a project from one DAW to another. Some can even do this with one simple action. GarageBand, however, cannot. Your only 'official' options are to move a project to Logic, or spend the time to 'share' each of your individual project parts one by one, a very time consuming (and boring!) process.

So what does it exactly mean to 'export a project'? The answer depends somewhat on where the project originated (here it would be GarageBand) and where it is headed. There are some official standards for this sort of thing, like OMF, but exporting essentially means creating a maximum resolution audio file for each part (a GarageBand track) and then bringing all of those audio files into a different DAW project.
